Go Pro: The SSI Divemaster Course in Bahía Solano

The SSI Divemaster course is the pinnacle of recreational diving and your entry into the professional ranks. Whether your goal is to work at a tropical resort, guide local boat dives, or simply become the most capable, knowledgeable diver you can be, this program builds the foundation. Over 2 to 3 weeks in Bahía Solano, you will refine your rescue skills, master professional-level buoyancy, and learn how to manage dive logistics in one of the most biodiverse environments on earth.

Where Adventure Runs on Fins

Unlock the full potential of the Pacific Ocean.

What Is The Divemaster Course?

In the SSI system, the Divemaster rating is achieved by completing two core components: Dive Guide and Science of Diving.

During the Dive Guide portion, you will learn the practical skills of dive briefings, underwater navigation, group control, and problem-solving. In the Science of Diving portion, you will dive deep into dive physics, physiology, decompression theory, and marine environments. Together, they create a well-rounded dive professional. Upon completion, you will be authorized to lead certified divers on underwater tours and assist instructors with training.

How It Works (Step-by-Step)

  • Secure Your Spot & Start Learning: Book your course and instantly unlock the SSI Dive Guide and Science of Diving digital materials. Start mastering the theory before you arrive in Colombia.

  • Water Fitness & Skill Circuits: Prove your stamina with swim tests and water-treading exercises. Then, refine your open water and rescue skills to "demonstration quality."

  • Academic Workshops: Sit down with your mentors to deeply understand dive theory, equipment mechanics, and the local marine environment of Bahía Solano.

  • Real-World Shadowing: You will assist our active instructors on actual fun dives and courses. You will give briefings, lead dives under supervision, and learn how to read both the ocean and your divers.

  • Final Scenarios & Evaluation: Pass the written exams and confidently lead a complete dive boat operation from the dock, to the reef, and back safely.

Who it’s for (requirements)

  • Age: Minimum 18 years old.

  • Certification Prerequisites: Must hold an SSI Stress & Rescue certification (or equivalent from another agency).

  • First Aid: Must have a current React Right (CPR/First Aid/Oxygen Provider) certification completed within the last 24 months.

  • Experience: You must have a minimum of 40 logged dives to begin the program (and must reach 60 logged dives to be certified).

Frequently asked questions

How long does the training take?

The course is intensive and typically takes 2 to 3 weeks to complete. The exact timeline depends on your incoming experience level, how quickly you master the practical scenarios, and how much of the digital learning you finish before arriving.

Can I cross over from PADI or another agency?

Yes. If you hold a Rescue Diver certification from PADI, NAUI, CMAS, or another recognized agency, you can enter the SSI Divemaster program. We will verify your credentials during the booking process.

Do I have to pay SSI professional fees?

Upon successful completion, your first year of SSI Professional Renewal fees will be processed. We will guide you through how to register as an active professional in the SSI network.
