Identificación:
The "ninjas" of the reef. The Coral Hawkfish is small but vibrant.

• Coloración: Su cuerpo varía de gris pálido a rosado y está cubierto de brillantes manchas rojas. Puede distinguirse del similar Spotted Hawkfish por estas marcas rojas más vivas y por los pequeños puntos marrones en su frente.
• Características: It has specialized fins with "tassels" (cirri) on the tips, which allow it to perch securely on coral branches while waiting for prey.

Comportamiento:
Un paciente depredador de emboscada.

• Perchado: Suelen esperar inmóviles sobre rocas o cabezas de coral, listas para lanzarse rápidamente sobre crustáceos o peces pequeños que pasen cerca. Su velocidad y agilidad les permiten escapar entre las ramas del coral cuando se sienten amenazados.
• Reproducción: They are hermaphroditic and live in "harems," where one male dominates a group of several females. If the male dies, the dominant female will change sex to become the new male.
